My name is Louis Boubat. I was born in 2001 in Auvergne, the volcanic region in the heart of France. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Applied Foreign Languages and a master’s degree in Translation. I also spent a semester studying at the University of Oklahoma.
I have several passions: languages, traveling the world (especially the U.S.!), football, and, above all, history. What’s great about being a tour guide is that I get to use all these skills!
I’ve always been fascinated by history, particularly World War II, as my great-grandfather was part of the French Resistance (« maquis ») near Mont Mouchet in the mild south of France.
He often shared stories with me about life during the war and the critical role of the Resistance.
One of the most significant missions he participated in was an ambush against German forces attempting to reach Normandy on June 10th.
Although the Resistance suffered heavy losses, they managed to slow the German advance. After the war, my great-grandfather donated all his equipment from his time in the maquis to a local museum, believing that artifacts play a crucial role in preserving history for future generations.
Today, I want to carry on his legacy and honor the memory of the thousands of soldiers who fell in the Battle of Normandy, so that their sacrifice is never forgotten.
